Spectator Code of Conduct
Welcome to the 2025 Kirkcudbright Fringe!
We are thrilled to have you join us for this celebration of arts, culture, and creativity. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive experience for everyone, we kindly ask all spectators to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
1. Respect Others
1.1. Be considerate and respectful toward fellow spectators, performers, staff, and volunteers.
1.2. Refrain from disruptive behaviour, including excessive noise, heckling, or interruptions during performances.
1.3. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive language of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. Respect the Performers and Performances
2.1. Silence mobile phones and other electronic devices during performances.
2.2. Avoid entering or exiting venues while performances are in progress, unless it is an emergency.
2.3. Flash photography, video recording, or use of unauthorised devices during performances is prohibited unless explicitly allowed.
3. Follow Venue Rules
3.1. Observe all guidelines set by the venue, including health and safety measures, seating arrangements, and capacity limits.
3.2. Keep aisles and exits clear and adhere to any instructions provided by event staff.
3.3. Dispose of waste responsibly in designated bins to maintain the cleanliness of the venue.
4. Be Inclusive and Supportive
4.1. Embrace the diversity of performances, cultures, and artistic expressions.
4.2. Show encouragement through applause and positive feedback where appropriate.
4.3. Be mindful of others' enjoyment and avoid monopolising space in crowded areas.
5. Safety First
5.1. In case of an emergency, follow the guidance of event staff and emergency personnel.
5.2. Report any suspicious activity, safety concerns, or medical emergencies to staff immediately.
5.3. Refrain from bringing prohibited items, such as weapons, illegal substances, or hazardous materials, to the event.
6. Accessibility and Assistance
6.1. Be considerate of spectators with accessibility needs and give priority in designated areas.
6.2. If you require assistance, contact event staff, who are available to help ensure your experience is comfortable and enjoyable.
7. Children and Families
7.1. Children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
7.2. Respect family-friendly areas and ensure that young spectators adhere to the same standards of behavior.
8. Zero Tolerance Policy
The Kirkcudbright Fringe maintains a zero-tolerance policy for:
Aggressive or threatening behaviour
Harassment or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other personal characteristic
Behavior that endangers others
Individuals who violate this Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the Event without refund and could be reported to authorities.
