Event Details

This year is the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War: the defeat of Nazi Germany and imperial Japan and the hope of a better future and society. Join David Kynaston - one of the foremost authorities on post-war Britain and author of a multi-volume series which began in 1945 and will eventually take us up to the present - in looking back at the hopes and plans of 1945 and asking what went right and wrong, and what can we learn for the present and future?

David Kynaston is author of Austerity Britain 1945-51 called “a classic” (The Guardian); “a marvel” (The Telegraph) and subsequent volumes on post-war Britain up until 1979, the latest of which - Habits and Chances: Britain 1965-67 - is published in early 2026.
